Our Home in Laindon

I just wanted to add some photo memories of our home in Laindon. Its address was ‘Rose Bower’, Percy Road, Laindon. Percy Road ran south from Victoria Road. The house had been built in about 1930 by my grandfather, (Rose had been my grandmother’s name). He later added a two storey building as a permanent home for them and the large number of my aunts and uncles.

My parents lived there from the late 40’s and all through the 50’s. I was the youngest of 5 (3 brothers one sister). We moved from there to Basildon in 1959 when I was 4. The house was compulsory purchased and demolished. It now lies beneath West Mayne.
