Alec Perry, lamp boy at Laindon in 1927. He broke his arm falling down this very signal – a job eliminated by the technology of electric lamps. CLIFF PERRY.
After a bit of research I have found him. Alec Henry A Perry born Orsett 24th October 1909. The 1911 census shows him living with his parents Herbert and Elizabeth Perry at ‘Grey Goose Cottage’ Orsett. He would therefore have been 18 years old in 1927. He married Annie Widgery in 1935 at Orsett. They had two children, David born 1939 and Clifford born 1945. Alec died aged 84 in August 1994 in Brentwood registration district.
