This was taken about 1952-1954, was a day out to Southend. The lady on the far right was Florence Vetterlein, landlady of the Wheatsheaf at the time until her death in 1955. I am guessing the younger ones in the picture may still be about? I got this info from Florence’s grandson who I contacted as a result of reading his article about Little Burstead on Francis Frith’s website.

I lived in the village with my parents for 15 years, 1941-1956. My father Alec John Rushen who worked for the Asplin’s is in this picture, sixth from the left.
