September’s memory day was a tremendous success. At least 25 people attended, some paying their first visit. Eileen Withers and her husband had driven up from Surrey especially to be there. Eileen’s sister Joan also accompanied her.
With plenty to talk about, lots of photos to view and a display board on the wall featuring the Laindon Carnival, the Library rang with cheerful greetings and plenty of excited chatter about times gone by, school days etc.
As always Ken Porter supplied tea and coffee from ‘refreshments corner’ and assorted biscuits were handed round. On the opposite side of the room, Colin was busy scanning various photos that been brought along.
We had a sneaky peak at the 2018 calendar which is near completion and will be available in a few weeks’ time. Orders are already being placed.
The Archive always gives a warm welcome to the many visitors who come along to these meetings that take place on the last Saturday of each month. So, please don’t hesitate to join us and any stories or photographs you might like to share would be most appreciated.
