  • Thank you very much, I have a copy and have to admit, a touch disappointed at its shortness, but still glad I got it.

  • Basildon was only a very small hamlet when the decision to create a new town was made and I for one can remember going fishing in a pond very close to the Western end of the Police Station.

There were then four thriving communities surrounding the Basildon hamlet. Billericay the political centre, Wickford, Pitsea and the largest Laindon. The result of the Development of Basildon has been the decimation of Laindon, Pitsea, the degradation of Wickford. Even Billericay which retains the largest number of original buildings is suffering from the effects of being part of the ill conceived development.

The really annoying thing is that even though the developing authority was supposedly disbanded it is still a major player in the continuing destruction of the area’s heritage.

It appears that the DVD is not showing up in the Britain on Film catalogue as of the 30/11/14, will look again during the week.

  • Helen, thank you for the photos of the new DVD.  We received our copy yesterday and although we very much enjoyed watching the film, we were a little disappointed with the sound track which we found rather dull.  However, it was good to see that plenty of Laindon and the Plotlands were included.
