The First Memory Day of 2014

Saturday 22nd February.

Memory Day, Laindon Library 22nd February 2014.
Colin Humphrey

A good turnout of at least 20 people attended the first memory day of 2014, several of whom were on their first visit.    All were very welcome and after introductions, the morning became a bustling two hours of chatter, questions, reminiscences and laughter, fuelled with a display of old photographs, tea and  biscuits.

In fact it was 12:30 by the time everything was packed away and we started to head off with the date of the next meeting firmly fixed in our minds i.e. Saturday 22nd March, 10am to 3pm at the Manor Mission.

An apology was offered to the lady in charge of the Library for the noisiness of our gathering.  She smiled and said “Not at all, it’s good to see the library being so well used”.

A successful and enjoyable start to another year.

  • Hi Eric.  Hoping to get along to the library on May 24th. Will check to see if Doug can make it as well, also Daphne, so perhaps you could see if your sister Jill is interested in going along as they were at school together ??

  • Hi Eric, my Mother-in-law and her husband (Mr and Mrs Barton) were friends with your parents; Chris, my husband used to visit your home but says that he just remembers a young lad there – he was more friendly with your sisters Beryl and Ruth (I wonder why!!).  We’ll mark our calendar for 24th May.  Regards from Andrea

  • Pity I shall miss the Manor Mission event, would have liked that. I will however be at the May 24th memory day as I will be visiting from Oz at that time.

If anyone remembers me would be great to catch up.

    Keep up the great work.
