  • I have to thank Ian for sorting the data I supplied and getting it into the tables in this article. Additional work for him on top of the excellent work he and the team do for this website.

I had hoped mistrancriptions, typos etc. would be minimal, but I have cross-checked the source documents and find that I have misread some of the handwriting – it takes time to get used to someone’s writing from 1911, and adding my own typos, errors have crept in. There are still a few entries for which I cannot make out the writing, e.g. name of the property in Schedule No. 128.

The errors – by page and Schedule No. are: Page 1 24: Private House to be added in Type of Property column

Page 3 37, 38, 39: “a” missed out of “Cottages” in Property column 45: Meadow Cottage in Property column instead of Prince of Wales Cottages 47: Mrs Bean in Name of Head column instead of Mr Bean

Page 4 51, 52: Private House added in Type of Property column

Page 6 97: Hall Farm in Property column instead of Hill Farm

Page 7 108: Mr Gurnish in Name of Head column instead of Mr Gurniesh 113: Nevett, Arthur Charles John in Name of Head column 115: Trafalgar Villa in Property column instead of just Trafalgar

Page 8 Row before 131: Fair Natal in Property column Instead of Fair Martin 144: Mr Pickitt in Name of Head column instead of Mr Pickett Last row of page: Not used as dwelling in Name of Head column

Page 9 148: Pensioner Civil Service and Cycle Agent in Occupation column replacing current entry 151: “Shop Keeper” deleted in Schedule No. Column leaving 151 156: Public House in Type of Property column instead of Private House 165: Worthing Road, Manor House Estate in Road/Location column replacing Worthing Road

Page 10 167: Mr Saunders in Name of Head instead of Mr Saubders 168: Mr Loughton in Name of Head instead of Mr Loghton 179: Mr Wollen in Name of Head instead of Mr Mollen 182: Blue House Farm Cottages in Property column replacing Blue House Cottages

Page 11 183, 184, 185: Blue House Farm Cottages in Property column replacing Blue House Cottages Last but one row: Central Park Estate added in Road/Location

Page 12 197: Prospect View in Property column instead of Prospect With apologies – must do better next time!

Editor: I have made the corrections, thanks for checking
