Laindon and Langdon Hills George Post Boxes

Laindon and Langdon Hills Old Post Boxes

We have the following six George V and George V1 post boxes in the district:-
Laindon
• Corner of Worthing Road and Devonshire Road – George V
• Roberts Road – George V
• Wash Road – George V
Langdon Hills
• High Road – George V
• Lee Chapel Lane – George V1
Lee Chapel South
• The Knares by the shops – George V1

There is one Pillar Victorian post box still in operation on the green by the junction with Laindon Common Road and Noak Hill Road, now in the parish of Little Burstead by previously in the old parish of Laindon.
There was also a Pillar Victorian post box outside the Red Cow, General Store/Post Office in Dry Street, Langdon Hill but since the stores closure in the mid-1970s it has languished in storage. It was reprieved a couple of years ago by the Basildon Heritage Group and with a current grant from Veolia it has been refurbished and re-sited near the cottages and barns at Wat Tyler Park Pitsea. Obviously non-operational.
Within the Borough, there are another four George V and seven George V1 post boxes still in operation.

High Road, Langdon Hill George V
Worthing Road, Laindon George V
The Knares, Lee Chapel South - George V1
Wat Tyler Park - Victorian
Wash Road/Cavendish - George V1
Little Burstead - Victorian
