Hello everyone, I am currently researching my family and have become aware that my 2nd great grandmother Mrs Emily Ada (Emma) Tossell maiden name Dackombe died in December 1951 at Charlesville, Northumberland Avenue, Laindon. Her husband was called Charles Fredrick Tossell. I would be interested in anyone who knew them or have photos of the house. Just to gage an idea of my history. Thank you.
Editor: Unfortunately we do not have a photo of ‘Charlesville’ but we have added a map from the Basildon Development Corporation 1949 survey, showing that the exact position of ‘Charlesville’ was close to the water tower. The plot number being 280 (on the lower, right side of the map just above the railway line) The accompanying description is sparce, showing that it was made from brick and asbestos tiles and consisted of 3 rooms. Hope this helps with your family history. Best wishes.
