First hot air balloon landing in Essex

Something I read in the book Essex and its Race for the Skies by Graham Smith that might be of interest:

5th June 1783 first hot air balloon flight by Joseph Montgolfier in France
25th August 1784 first balloon flight in UK by James Tytler in Edinburgh

The first ‘aeronaut’, as balloonists were then known, to land from the sky onto Essex soil, was Jean-Pierre Blanchard. In 1785 John Crosier, a Maldon miller, recorded the unique event in his diary: ‘In May Mr Blanchard alighted on Langdon Hills with his balloon; he pac’d it up in a post chaise and went to London.’
