Mini Wear shop in Laindon Centre

Mini Wear

I found this bag whilst clearing a neighbour’s house. I don’t remember the shop and I’ve lived here since 1976. Does anyone remember it?

  • Mini Wear as the name suggests was a baby and children’s wear shop and was situated at no 18 Laindon Centre owned and operated by Harry Hopkins and his family, after the demise of Walk & Wear fashions at no’s 12 & 13 Mini Wear became Centre Fashions a ladies wear outlet. The Hopkins family then opened First Edition menswear shop at nearby 21 when the Howards Furniture store moved into the vacant 12 & 13 within the Laindon Centre.
Harry Hopkins bought shares in the Furniture shop and became the store manager for a number of years until it was sold to Watford Carpet & Bedding Centre’s who retained the name until 1976 when Southern Comfort Discount bought the business.
