  • Is number 3 Garry Cooper?

    By Jason (25/05/2022)
  • No. 40 is my dad, Robert Ryan, we live in the Isle of Man now, moved in 1992 from Orsett.

    By Tony Ryan (26/01/2020)
  • Has anybody else studied this photograph as much as I have, I wonder? Certain people seem to share, or at least show, certain similarities. Compare no. 33 Billy Tyler, no. 60 Jimmy Bird and no. 58 Clive Jeakins. Look alike facially with similar hairstyles and even the pose looks the same. Maybe I need to find something else to occupy my time!

    By Donald Joy (31/12/2016)
  • No. 27 is Christopher Fuller.

    By Alan Taylor (29/12/2016)
  • That’s me, No. 44.

  • No. 12 is Edward Miller and in front of him with no number is Gerald Ludlow.

    By Alan Taylor (29/11/2015)
  • No. 44 is Fred Parker for sure.

  • No. 3 is Alfred Martin and No. 5 is Ivan Sargent. I am 100% sure.

    By Alan Taylor (22/03/2015)
  • Hi Pete Reynolds how are you doing?  I last went back into LHR school in 2002. The janitor let myself and Graham Todd go in for a final look around. The school was empty by then and was due for eventual demolition. We found many of the familiar classrooms like the one near the boy’s entrance where we spent a brief time with Mr Rees about 1962.

I remember you and Mart Graves going off early to play football for the school sometimes, the only two in our class to do so. I think he emigrated around 1970. Macky Scott did marry Jacqui Sheppard, I met him a few times in the mid 70s when he was a CID branch policeman in Colchester. I lost track of Mart Brown, Geoff Heather and Johnny Langton around 1968 after my 21st birthday party which they attended.

I remember the wooden board in the main school hall which I recall had your name engraved as head boy 62-63 so that sticks in my mind. I do hope you are keeping well. Cheers Richard.

    By Richard Haines (20/02/2015)
  • 62 is definitely me! Proud to be in 5X with some fantastic characters. Top of the list has to be Mr Rees – such a superb teacher. Working through the photos has brought back so many happy memories.  Where are you all now?  Martin Graves, John Langton, Martin Brown, Geoff Heather, Bill Crowhurst, Dave Basham, Susan King, Jackie Sheppard, Mary Baker, Graham Todd, Malcolm Scott, somebody told me married Jackie Sheppard.

I left after O-levels to Palmers in Grays and then on to college and do a Mr Munday and teach P.E.  Made me appreciate what a good guy he was – and many of the other staff too.  Good ole Yogi Bear, Frank Foreman et al.  I do hope that we are all still in good health ….best wishes to all. Special thanks to all your researching Richard.

  • Hi, I think you will find that number 49 is Peter Cousins.

His father ran Buckingham butchers near the Fortune of War.

    By Bill Lewis (17/08/2014)
  • Brian Baylis Please note that Pat Roper had already reported Ian Horner’s motor cycling accident on this website back in 2011. There are also others on here too who had tragic accidents, I’m sure we probably all know somebody who did.

    By Richard Haines (28/11/2013)
  • I sat next to the late Ian Horner (63) in Mr. Poole’s class. I understand he was killed in a motorbike accident, whilst returning to his naval base. If I am wrong, then I apologise for any upset.

    By Brian Baylis (27/11/2013)
  • I am sure number 3 is Alfred Martin not John Gilbert

    By Joan Merchant (24/10/2012)
  • For Brian Cordell please – re Gordon Wright – didn’t he accompany you to a couple of recent events?

    By Andrea (24/10/2012)
  • Number 39 sitting between Bill Johnston and Robert Ryan definitely not Terry Reynolds, my old neighbour – maybe brother Trev is reading this so you will be able to confirm. However, that boy number 39 – I do recognise him, but his name escapes me.

    By Andrea (24/10/2012)
