  • Does the house called Banchory in Dry Street still exist?

  • My grandmother was Ellen Lee (nee Duggan) who in the 1950 at least, lived at Banchory in Dry Street.

I don’t know her husband’s name or his family history.

My father was Phillip Lee. He had a brother Tony and sister Pat.

  • There was a Cedric Lee in my class at Langdon Hills or Laindon High Road, or both, I cannot remember for sure. That would have been 1939 through 1947. There may be no relationship.

  • Edgar Clement Lee was born in Soho, London in 1883. He married Beatrice Marion Porter in West Ham 1912. (Their son, Edward Bernard Lee was born in 1913 – baptised in Leyton, Essex).
The 1929 Electoral Register shows them living at ‘Oakdene’ St David’s Road, Langdon Hills (Edgar was a Fruitier), presumably they moved to Nightingale Avenue soon after.
Their son, (an Aircraft fitter), married Ethel E Lee in Orsett, Essex in 1937. By 1939, they were living in Wembley, Middx.
Edgar Clement Lee died at Barking Station 1st January 1934.
