Dry Street Development - Road Names

Next to the Westley Green Development in Dry Street by Redrow is the Woodside Place development by Stonebond Properties (Chelmsford) Ltd. A much smaller development than Westley Green and it has only one road named after the three Clark brothers who were veterans of World War One – ‘Clark Street’. The three brothers lived at 1 Railway Cottage’s, Laindon and all returned home safely after the war.
John who initially signed up with the Royal West Surrey Regiment but later transferred to the 9th Battalion, Border Regiment. His brother Frederick enlisted into the 32 Battalion, Royal Fusiliers and the third brother Edward who also signed up but unfortunately his war records cannot be located.
