Grandmother I never knew

My grandmother Elizabeth Lucy Cordwell nee Web who died 1855-1905 is buried in St  Mary’s & And all Saints Church. I am the only relative aged 82. I would love to find her burial
Grave, as I didn’t get the chance to know her.

  • Hi Madeline…Confirm via Essex record Office that Elizabeth died on 11 May 1945 age 70 years…it appears she was living at Mimosa, Stacey Drive, Langdon Hills, the pastor who carried out the service on the 16th May was a C Arnold of the Methodist Church.
I have had a good look around the church yard, but cannot find the grave, there are many blank spaces and the head stones are difficult to read (Grave number is 160 row X Block C). All the best with your research Ken

  • Hi, you certainly sent us on a goose chase. The burial records show that Elizabeth Lucy Cordwell was buried on the 16 May 1945 (not 1905) I have a rough map of the church yard and have a good idea where the grave is. Whether it can be located will on depend on whether there was a headstone. I will get up there as soon as possible and have a look. If you can contact the editor and given him permission to allow me to contact you by email, I would appreciate it.
