Hawes Place road sign on the Westley Mews development behind the hospital is in honour of Daniel George Hawes, leading Seaman, who lost his life on 8th June 1944, aged 20. He was mention in despatches. Son of Daniel and Emily Hawes of Laindon and husband of Lillian Hawes.
