Sorting through some old photographs recently, my son found these he had taken of the covered walkway being fitted to Laindon Railway Bridge in 1993.
Prior to this, piles had been driven into the ground. The workmen had started extremely early in the morning. The noise of the pile driving machines were so loud that many complaints were received from around the neighbourhood prompting the police to be called. They duly arrived and asked the company involved to kindly start work at a more reasonable time each day.
